about

Ruritan was founded in Holland, Virginia in 1928.

Ruritan is a national organization with patriotic American ideals, dedicated to creating a better country, one community at a time. It has touched thousands of lives with a mission of improving communities and building a better America through Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service.

Ruritan is America’s leading community service organization. Individual clubs support Independence Day celebrations, food and clothing for families in need, and civic improvements to make communities better places in which to live and work.

Clubs provide support for youth with college scholarships and loans, sponsorship of scout troops, 4-H units,

Little League, and other youth organizations.

Rudy Bears – Ruritan’s mascot, are donated to hundreds of public services such as fire departments. sheriff’s departments, and rescue squads, to comfort children in traumatic situations.
